Now this is my kind of urban living - a timber-clad prefabricated floating house in Hamburg, in what is clearly a groovy houseboat part of town. Great use of an up-side down layout with bedrooms below and living above to take advantage of natural light, views and the gorgeous waterside location.

Something for the weekend? The mobile home finally comes of age. No more dodgy gas lights, brown geometric prints & mini nylon curtains - this light, airy modern prefab has clearly defined rooms, although personally I wish they’d kept more of the Transformer magic of the traditional mobile home to make it more fexible - sofas and tables that turn into extra bed spaces etc. Still, a stylish alternative for the weekend or summer bolt hole.
